Yes, this is the Government that claimed that the SP would be renovated and reopened by last year. How did that work our? Seen any visitors there yet.

There was a time, under another Gvernment, when the SP and other big box hotels were BEGGING Government to allow them more rooms. We were at saturation point with room availability. We had a business savy government at the time knowing that more was not better.

Now we have a Giverment that has no business savy at all. So little that the one person with finance experise had to resign himself.

Any idea when the SP will be reopened? Don’t count on the last one, oh so grandly announced?

The attempt to allow McDonalds, and then others, was a huge mistake.

I was at the public meeting, along with a group of others in a section of the hospitality that gets to talk to visitors one on one to our visitors. These visitors told us time after time that one of the attractions of Bermuda is NO fast food, or any, chain restaurants. No chains set Bermuda apart, in a good way, from the islands to the south.

To be successful in business you have to give customers what they want or, in this case, what they don’t want.

I agree with your comments, but would add in those days the UBP had a backbench who would not sit quietly but would challenge Cabinet, unlike the PLP silent majority. A good example is when Sir John blotted his legacy with his attempt to bring in McDonalds, stopped by enough UBP MPs who had spine.

However, Mr Kennedy is a good businessman who has real stake in the Warwick constituency, with his store The Hub being in the heart of Warwick for years. He might give Dennis Lister III a run for his money.

Why not? Sir John is the spark who has lit the resurgence of a return to Governance by independent MPs. He is a respected senior former MP and Premier, no doubt the best Premier Bermuda has ever had.

Why is Sir John present at every announcement of an “Independent”? Independents should run for themselves and certainly not in conjunction with another candidate, especially Sir John, as that defeats the image of being Independent.
