Arent all the clubs listed private members clubs? Many clubs put their main focus on the bar revenue and dont necessarily enforce the fact that they are members clubs but I always thought that most social clubs had paid members, committees and trustees. THe paid members could ivite guests to visit wit hthem a few times a year and once they go over the max number of visits they are encouraged to join or see you again next year.

Soo the PLP just bought a whole bunch of votes with taxpayer money and not a single dollar of it goes to youth programs.

These are all membership clubs. If they cannot stand on their own feet they sure don’t deserve handouts every year.

“WHY is this Government giving public taxpayer funds to Vasco Da Gama”

For the same reason Government is giving money to Leopards Club, Mid-Atlantic Boat & Sports Club, Somerset Cricket Club, Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club and others. They are all private members clubs and all of them can control who they let in.

Question?….WHY is this Government giving public taxpayer funds to Vasco Da Gama, Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, St George’s Dinghy and Sports Club, Blue Waters Anglers Club when they are private members clubs?

The public can’t go to Vasco Da Gama (doors locked for members ONLY), Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club (don’t even think about it) and St George’s Dinghy and Sports Club (the same as RHADC, don’t even think about it). At least Blue Waters Anglers Club lets you in BUT still a private club

Writing the first report on our clubs and their critical role in the community. The report justifies funds being given in this way to keep them active in the commmunity. It would be great if each club sent Bernews a before and after photo.
