Point of clarification, the pink (Warwick/Paget) route has been “suspended” since last Thursday…For the umpteenth time.

Once this storm passes, it would be great if the decision-makers supposedly running things could get it together. Please stop jerking pink ferry route riders around. It has gone beyond the point of ridiculous.

If the ferry breaks down or isn’t safe, noted. But then use some brain cells to realize that it is inconveniencing countless people. Also keep in mind that it is even more infuriating when the suspensions happen in the middle of the day; if people have parked at pink route ferry stops. Not to mention the residents living on Hinson’s Island who have been impacted the most - inclusive of no weekend service since last year.

There are multiple options that decision-makers could utilize when things go awry with the pink route ferry:

1) use a larger ferry not in service on other routes to ensure that the pink route isn’t disrupted

2) use the “Friendship” vessel; which has been used previously to transport pink route commuters

3) enlist the Newstead vessel, which is clearly operational regularly and has previously transported pink route commuters

4) instruct the green route ferry to stop at even one pink route stop (to and from Hamilton) to pick up passengers; this has been done previously.

But I guess any of the above suggestions would be too logical to put into place. Meanwhile, pink commuters continue to be frustrated…
