One Government department supporting, wasting time with, another Government department to promote work in an industry that few Bermudians have an interest in being in.

They don't like the pay. They don't like the hours. They don't like the seasonal nature of the industry. They don't want to work on public holidays and tend to get 'sick' on those holidays.

They will, however, complain bitterly when hotel operators bring in foreign labour that is content with the pay, doesn't mind the hours, are quite happy with the seasonal nature of the industry, are happy to work on public holidays and seldom get sick.

This is not much more than the CS making work for the CS cloaking it in some sort of appearance that they are doing some work.

It would be interesting to see how many take a job as a result of this job fair and how many last a season at that job.

"The Ministry of Economy and Labour is supporting the Hospitality Industry Careers Fair on March 18"

Well of course it is, it is "being hosted in partnership with ... the Department of Workforce Development"!

What blatant self congratulation.
