DeSilva is great at announcing grand stuff and making promises on delivery on such promises. Actual delivery on those promises, not so much.

There is one excuse after another. One delay after another. Prime example: Where are the cubicle homes promised for availability in February 7 months ago? They sit at Morgans Point somewhere, possibly victims of vandals by now. These things arrived, late, months ago all ready to be plugged into utilities and used. The site is not ready. Why? It is now almost a year since DeSilva announced them, with his usual great fanfare. A year to get permits and prepare the site.

These park model trailer homes have a lifespan of maybe 20 years with normal maintenance and care. Much less the way our Government takes care of things and the way the tenants are likely to abuse them.

How long before the first keys are turned over to the first couples? These are NOT family sized homes.

We know that the 94 low cost housing at Grand Atlantic/Bermudiana Beach cost over $100,000,000 to build.

How on earth can anyone believe that the PLP Government will build more than 10 times as many units for less than half that cost?

It is highly unlikely that anything will be active until 2027. Government at the speed of a sloth.

That will be a pleasant surprise. Bermuda’s nearly $4 Billion debt has only increased over the past 20 odd years.

If the PLP Government did not pay so much in interest on our debt, it would have more available money for the social programmes it wants to deliver.

Just remember the Ministry of Health’s “comprehensive epidemiological review” of COVID-19.

Ebola is very nasty. It was confined to a small region until The WHO came in to help, and then it spread. Go figure.

As always, spot on with observations of the Government – attempting to appear relevant.

Paragraph 39 of the Traffic Code Handbook says “Overtake only on the right, except when a driver in front has signalled his intention to turn to the right. (This rule does not apply in one-way streets.)”

That sentence, buried in the middle of the penultimate paragraph makes the preceding words (294 of them) superfluous.

What were the results of that review please? How may cases of Ebola virus have been detected in Bermuda?

Or is this statement by the PLP Government nothing more than an attempt to appear relevant?

Did Mr. Big or the Minister of Health have any communications with Mr. Fifth Amendment Fauci? Will the Government apologise for treating us like criminals and its draconian measures? Yeah, sarcasm…

I was not negating the parking part, just indicating that overtaking is not allowed either.

Besides, the PLP Government has spent more than $100 MILLION building 90 odd “low cost” housing units.

Meanwhile the victim(s) get nothing. When there is theft involved or damagge done to someones person or property, the crimimal does not have to return, replace, or repair do they. They dont even have to say sorry! The victim is stuck with the scars (physical & mental), bills or loss. Does a victim get free healthcare, dental, transportation like the criminal? Nope? Do victims get free education? Don’t even get me started on support how the families and friends of deceased victims pf crimes are forced to stand by and see articles and news clips showing all the perks that theses criminals are given by the government, the churches and the community. Prison should be uncomfortable enough that it becomes a deterent not a path to a better life than your victim.

Im so sick of this pampering and yay parading of those that commit crimes and are trying “to better themselves”! Meanwhile, do the right thing and be a law abiding, tax paying citizen and see what this same government get you when you need it?

There is a no overtaking part of Harbour Road, but that is not part of it.

The PLP Government has told e-bike riders that they have 6 weeks (until 31 October) in which to regularise matters.

For convenience, the Auxiliary Bicycles Act 1954 provides that any person who resides an auxiliary cycle in Bermuda must have a valid driver’s licence or Bermuda youth licence, provides for registration and sanction for use of an unregistered auxiliary cycle.

Sorry, Minister. Once again, your understanding of economic statistics is flawed.

The statement you have just made does not distinguish between new construction and necessary maintenance.

We know from the condition of Government House and Montpelier that the PLP Government does not understand the concept of preventive maintenance, but people in private industry do understand that concept.

If you want to be forthright with the people, remove the cost of preventive maintenance from the statistics and what is left will be money expended on new construction. You may not like that statistic, but at least it will be accurate.

Once upon a time the Bermuda Police Service enforced the traffic laws consistently. Everyone knew that driving at a speed in excess of 30 miles an hour (50 km/h) would result in a fine and driving at a speed in excess of 35 miles an hour (60 km/h) would result in a suspension of driving privileges. Being convicted twice in a 3 year period would result in a 6 month suspension of driving privileges even if the second offence alone would not result in suspension of driving privileges.

More than 20 years now the Bermuda Police Service ceased enforcing Bermuda’s traffic laws and those few offenders brought before the courts have been treated leniently.

There is a deliberate policy decision underlying the current state of affairs.
