A Homegoing service for Derrick Wayne Tyrone Simmons, beloved son of the late Iris Olivia Gibbons nee.
Simmons, stepson of the late Cleveland “Skins” Gibbons and son of the late William “Jerry” Cann. Sisters: Shawn Gibbons, C. Nicole Renfroe nee Gibbons and Sharon Wilson, Linda Trott, Deborah Gillett [Roger], brothers Sherwin Simmons, Khalifa Abdul Jabbar, Dr. Richard Cann, Alan Cann [Dawn], Noel Cann [Beverley], Khalifah Abdul Jabbar and the late Stephen Cann. Will be held today, Saturday December 9, 2023 at 12 pm at Augustus Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Augustus Funeral Home, Dec 9, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:40 am.
Lovingly survived by special nieces Teshay Gibbons and Jasmyn Renfroe; special nephews Jordan and Jacari Renfroe; special cousin Carol Burrows and family; numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends, the “back in the day” Friswell’s Hill Community and the Cooper Ward staff.
