With sadness, the family of Janet Carol Olden announce her unexpected passing on 5th April 2025 at the age of 81 years in Ontario, Canada.

After spending 53 years in Bermuda, Janet retired with her husband, Tim Olden, to Guildwood, Ontario eight years ago. In her retirement, she embraced her love for painting, reading, and gardening.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years and her children Toni and Aaron Daniels and grandchildren An Mei and Loann. She leaves behind her sisters-in-law Toni [Rob] and Terri [Bob]; step-daughters Timika [Calvin] and Tamara [Benji] Olden; step-grandchildren Azizah, CaMya, Milan and Vali; goddaughter Julie Hoermann, very dear friends Wendy and Stuart Harvey of the UK; dearest cousin Mick Burrow of the UK as well as numerous other relatives and friends in Canada, Bermuda and the UK too numerous to list.

Born in Enfield, England, Janet moved to Bermuda in 1964, navigating a then racially polarized Bermuda and going on to build a rich, fulfilling, and successful life for more than five decades. She was known for being hardworking and for her fearless and unapologetic spirit, qualities that helped her overcome any challenges and to live life on her own terms.

She worked for many years in custom picture framing for various galleries and businesses and later partnered with her daughter in their retail health shop.

A gifted and passionate gardener, Janet was twice recognised by the City of Toronto for the beauty of her home garden in Guildwood.

A celebration of Janet’s life will take place in Ontario at a time yet to be determined.
