[Bulley-Graham-Rawlins Funeral Home & Cremation Services]

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Henry Bielby of Hamilton Parish on the morning of December 24th in his 81st year. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Jane Bielby [nee Elliott], and his two beautiful daughters, Joann [Malcolm Woodley] and Jenifer [Chris Dawson]. He will also be sorely missed by step-grandchildren Jayden & Kenya Woodley, close friends, long-time neighbours, work colleagues, and customers too numerous to mention. He also leaves behind to grieve his surviving sister, Mary, and other Bielby family members in the UK, his brother-in-law Bob Elliott and wife Norma, as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, many of whom were frequent visitors to Bermuda.

A long-time employee of Baptiste’s [54 years], John will always be remembered for his friendly demeanor, sterling work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to customer satisfaction. He had a love of life and was never happier than when out on a boat fishing, working in his garden, or doing handyman tasks around the house.

To quote one family member, “He was a lovely, genuine man who remained true to his Yorkshire roots. He lived the life he wanted, in the way that he wanted, surrounded by a loving family – no one could ask for more than that from life.”

A celebration of life service will be held at St. Mark’s Church, South Road, Smith’s Parish on Tuesday, January 7th at 4 p.m., followed by a wake. Scattering of ashes will take place at a later date. Colours may be worn. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Friends of Hospice, Suite 124, 48 Par-La-Ville Road, Hamilton, HM11, or online at www.friendsofhospice.bm in John’s name.
