Maureen Anderson [1943-2025]
Maureen Anderson, 82, of Smith’s Parish, passed away on November 23rd, 2025. Maureen was born in Solihull, Warwickshire, England in 1943 and moved to Bermuda in the early 1970s. She made Bermuda her home for five decades. Maureen had an independent spirit. She had a passion for teaching, which led her to a career in education. Maureen taught history in Bermuda at senior school level for many years and English, as a foreign language, as a private tutor. She empowered her students with skills and confidence to access further educational, professional and personal opportunities. Maureen is also remembered for her avid interest in orchids and long-term membership of the Bermuda Orchid Society, where she was known for her enthusiasm and helpfulness. Maureen is survived by her sister Julie Garlick, nephew Paul, nieces Caroline and Katharine, as well as two grandnephews Henry and Lawrence.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday February 26th, 2026, at 14.00pm, graveside at St Mark’s Church, Smith’s Parish. All who knew and loved Maureen are warmly invited to attend.
