Winifred LaVerne Lau
[AMIS Memorial Chapel & Crematory]
It is with great sadness and hearts full of love that we announce the passing of Winifred LaVerne Lau [nee Ming], of Paget Parish, who was a faithful servant of God in her 80th year.
LaVerne, as she was affectionately known, was a loving and loyal wife for 44 years, to surviving husband, Ronnie Lau, and gave unconditional love to her children, Jill and Jodi Virgil [Allan] and her grandchildren Gabriel and Ethan Smith.
From the union between her late parents Florence Louise Ming and Frederick James Ming, LaVerne was also sister to Cheryl Gadette, Dr. Fred Ming [Jocelyn], Johnny Ming [Carol], Darlene Livingston [Donovan] and Lisa Ming-Blyden. LaVerne was also a loving sister-in-law to Ronnie’s siblings, Richard Lau and Winnie [Welly] Phoa.
LaVerne was a devout Christian of the Catholic faith, a life-long educator and learner who truly believed in sharing her love and providing service to others. As such, she developed life-long friendships and positively contributed to many professional, religious and community organizations.
As a family, we want to provide the time and opportunity for family and friends on island and across the globe to be present and participate in honoring LaVerne. Thus, a celebration of her magnificent life will be held on March 1, 2025.
We want to thank everyone for your calls, messages, cards, visits and support, as we navigate through this difficult period. We greatly appreciate your kindness and love for LaVerne.
Additional information, including visitation, live-stream details, full family acknowledgments, and details about any memorial events leading up to the celebration of life, will be provided at a later date. To stay updated, please visit https://everloved.com/life-of/laverne-lau/.
