Joan aka Sister Carey passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024.
She was predeceased by her parents Reginald Semos Sr. and Dorothy [Dolly] Semos, brother Reginald Semos Jr., and twin sister Carol Bennett [John].
Joan is survived by her nieces Cynthia Semos, Gail Smith [Lewis], Alice Bennett, great nephew Zavier Smith, great niece Yvé Smith, sister-in-law Pam Semos, and numerous relatives locally and abroad.
Special mention of her close friends Fay Leseur, Pat Rego, Chris Jorgenson, Sandi Kroah, the MSA class of 1961, and the Queen Street, St. George’s community.
At the age of twenty-one, Joan had a calling, so joined the Catholic order of the Sisters of Precious Blood Convent in Reading, Pennsylvania. After being the first in the family to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree, Joan committed her life to God’s work; she tutored young men to keep them out the Vietnam War draft, worked with abused women and orphans and was active in the local diocese.
Until recently, she was still active in Bible study classes at Spruce Manor Nursing Home, where she resided. Joan leaves to mourn her sisters in Christ of the Precious Blood Convent.
