Augustus Funeral Home regrets to announce the death of Rupert George Burnell Steede, son of the late Alfred Samuel and Mabel Gertrude Steede, father of the late Gregory Burgess and the late Burnell [Butch] Hill. Brother to the late Wendell and Earl Steede, late sisters: Alice Fubler, Eula Bean, and Mildred Lambe; step-siblings, Bobby Smith, the late Arthur Smith, Quillard, Marion, and Mae Smith. Loving grandfather of grandchildren: Jamel, Theresa, and Jermaine Lovell, and the late Tywone Smith. Great-grandchildren: Shaquan Lovell, Lyric Steede, Dequan Lima, Emani Davis, Jahrico and Jael Richardson, Cais Rogers, James Goins, and the late Lyreico Steede. Chosen granddaughter: Mandisa Tucker. Chosen great-grandchildren: Jahmeko Harvey-Outerbridge, Rickyah Tucker, Ricardo [RJ] Tucker Jr. Chosen great-great-grandchildren: Peso and Aura Tucker, Jordan Harvey-Outerbridge. Special nieces: the late Sherry [Samuel “Tinky”] Williams, the late Lois Virgil, Karen Lambe, and Jonelle Steede. Nieces: Vinette Delana, Judith Robinson, Beverly Hollis, and Lerna Linton. Nephew: Wali A. J. Mohammad. Special great-nieces: Nichae Fubler and Talia Williams. Cousins: Marjorie [Winston] Kelly, Maybelle [the late Jimmie] Denwiddie, Carol Steede, and the Richardson, Smith, and Darrell families.
The service will be held today, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Crawl Gospel Hall at 3 pm. There will be no viewing. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
