With heavy hearts, we regret to announce the passing of Mr. Samuel Richard Paynter, in his 97th year, of 4 Sofar Drive, St. George’s [St. David’s].
A cherished family man and a proud Cup Match hero, Mr. Paynter was a loving father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, uncle, and friend, whose life and legacy will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026. Further funeral details will be announced.
Mr. Paynter is survived by his children Calvin Paynter, Ethlyn Jacobs [Robert], and David Paynter.
He leaves to mourn his grandchildren TerryLynn Paynter [Valeria], Harold Young Jr, Nicole Young, Stacey O’Brien, Robert Jacobs, George O’Brien Jr., Brian Jacobs, Daynisha Paynter, and Julia O’Brien; along with ten greatgrandchildren.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Mr. John and Primrose Paynter [nee Pearman]; his devoted wife, Ethlyn Paynter [nee Tucker]; his children, John [Buddie] Paynter and Orial O’Brien; and his siblings: Lilian, Greta, Dorothy, Venetta, Rupert, Ernest, Gordon, and George Paynter.
Mr. Paynter’s legacy of love, strength, and pride will live on forever in the hearts of his family and community.
