We regret, with great sadness, to announce the death of Shirley Portia James, beloved wife of Dr [The Hon] Clarence James CBE, loving mother of Joanne Thain [James] and Peter James [Arlene], in her 91st year, of Watlington Rd, Devonshire. A service celebrating her life will be held at the St. John’s Church, Pembroke, Today, March 27, 2026, at 1pm. Interment will follow at St John’s Cemetery.
There will be no viewing.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren Dionte and Chloe Thain, Clara and Alana James; sister Nancy Oliver; brothers-in-law Claude James [Yvonne], Winfield James [Dorrette]; nieces and nephews, Dr. Leslie Oliver [Barbara], Michael Phipps, Kimberley MacKenzie [Daniel], Jennifer MacKenzie, Carolynn Fleck [Oliver], Jason Oliver [Elsbeth], Jessica Oliver, David Oliver, Sharon Edness [Ray], Heather James, and Leighton James [Amie]. She was predeceased by her brother Reverend William Oliver [Pearleen], sister Eugenie Brown, brother Senator Donald Oliver QC [Linda], brother David Oliver [Maureen] and son John James.
