Leila Maude Chavis [née Matthie], age 74, passed away peacefully at the stroke of midnight after Mother’s Day, May 11, 2026. She was surrounded by the love of her children as she transitioned.
Known for her remarkable resilience, Leila navigated life’s challenges with a quiet and persistent strength. She is survived by her children, Maurice Outerbridge, Marlon Outerbridge, and Michelle Hayes, as well as six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Leila has found her “still waters” and is finally at rest. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Monday, 25th May 2026 at 11:00 at the Salvation Army Corps, St. George. The interment will follow at the St. Peter’s Cemetery, St. George.
Visitation for family and friends will be at AMIS Memorial Chapel on Sunday May 24th, 2026, from 6 – 7:30 p.m. only.
At the request of the family pink or white colours may be worn.
