A Homegoing service celebrating the life of Matilda Gertrude Caines (nee Hill), youngest daughter of the late Rupert Garfield and Minnievena Hill and beloved mother of Kenneth Glenn Caines (Stephanie), Stephen Dean Caines (Edith) and Troy Theadore Caines (Debora). Loving grandmother to: K. Ultann Caines (Tamika), Donnée Caroll (Mike), Kimberley D. Caines (Joseph Best), Kassandra G. Caines, and Ariana E. Caines. Great Grandmother (GG) to Kenneth Christian Caines, Aidan Hamilton, Micah Best, Aiyara Best, Amir Best, and Àse McLeod in her 93rd year of Pembroke Parish, will be held, Today 19 June 2026 at Cobbs Hill Gospel Chapel at 1:00 p.m.
Visitation will be held at Cobbs Hill Gospel Chapel on 19 June 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. Interment to follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
Matilda will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews; goddaughter: Nicole Jackson; Pastor G. Dean and Jonelle Smith, Pastor George and Sylvia Smith and the Open Door Christian Assembly family; special friends: Addison and Valeria Tucker, Hope Dameron, Esmé Williams, Marie Hill, Gracelyn Davis, Julia Dears, Vickie Castle, Ruby Ellen Warner and Ernestine (Tina) Harvey and special son R. Wayne Swan. The Family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Samantha DeCouto, Dr. Jomo James, Dr. Srinath Meadipudi, the KEMH staff, the team at Agape House and Friends of Hospice.
