Next Wed: Seminar on Indian Film School
There will be a seminar to learn more about an Indian filmmaking school at the Bermuda College this coming Wednesday, May 6th at 6pm. The school, Whistling Woods International (WWI), had struck a prior deal with the Premier of Bermuda, which will facilitate local students studying in Mumbai, India.
On February 7, 2010 the school, located in Mumbai, India, announced that the Premier of Bermuda visited the campus to sign a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with them.
As per the MoU, WWI will recommend Bermuda to the Indian entertainment industry and the Government of Bermuda will provide sponsorships to two students every year from Bermuda to study filmmaking at WWI.
When asked why he chose Whistling Woods International for this association, Premier Dr. Ewart Brown said:
Whistling Woods International is considered as a gateway to Indian Cinema which is recognized globally and hence, I am here to encourage Indian film shoots to happen in Bermuda which will help us to promote tourism in Bermuda through Indian cinema.
Subhash Ghai, Chairman of Whistling Woods International said:
It is a great honour to have such personalities from all over the world visiting our institute. Whistling Woods International is now truly international with this association and with this we expect a lot of Bollywood shoots to happen in Bermuda.
Mr. Ravi Gupta, Executive Director, Mukta Arts Ltd said:
WWI is looking at expanding new horizons and this is the first step towards the long relation with the Government of Bermuda. We look forward to having students from Bermuda coming and experiencing the varied culture and techniques of filmmaking in India, thereby opening the minds of the young generation.
