Man Charged With DUI, Injuring Two People

48-year-old Douglas Mitchell was not required to enter a plea in this morning’s [Nov 21] Plea Court because all four charges that he faces must all be tried in the Supreme Court.

The four charges were that around 6:15pm on 27th September 2012 he was driving whilst impaired; was driving while the level of alcohol in his blood was over the 80mg limit; and two charges of causing grievous bodily harm to two people.

The four allegations arose out of an accident that was alleged to have occurred between a car being driven by Mr Mitchell and a cycle rider and pillion passenger.

Mr Mitchell’s case was adjourned to 5th December. He was granted bail of $10,000 and required to provide one surety.
