Basketball Team Preparing To Head To Canada
A Bermuda 14 & Under Girls Select Basketball team is preparing to head to Montreal, Canada.
The team is set to depart on Tuesday, April 8th and will play 2 Exhibition Matches against 2 High School teams. They will then participate in a 4 team Round-Robin weekend tournament against 3 club teams.
Players and parents have worked hard to raise funds for the trip through car washes, bake sales and tag days. They have also been fortunate enough to secure several sponsor donations from the private sector.
The majority of the players are playing for their respective schools in the Bermuda School Sports Federation [BSSF] Leagues and have been training since January, primarily on weekends, in preparation for this trip.
Of the 12 players selected, 9 were on last summer’s Select team which travelled to Orlando, Florida to participate in the 2013 Global Cup Tournament. The experience has encouraged those players to work harder at becoming better. For most of them, the results have been seen and noted through their play in the BSSF Leagues.
