Rugby: Canadian Youth Tour, Senior Cup Results

The Canadian Invitational Youth Rugby players got their tour off to a good start winning four of six finals on the Opening Day at the National Sports Center.

Canada won the Under 13 Seven’s Final defeating Bermuda 35 – 10, it was an all Canada Final in the Under 15 Seven’s Division, Canada A defeated Canada B 20 – 10. Bermuda’s lone win in the Seven’s came in the Under 15 Division as they defeated Canada 20 – 10.

The Under 13 Bermuda – Canada Twelve’s saw the visitors claim a 30 – 10 victory, while the Canadians won the Under 14’s Twelve’s match 40 – 10. The Under 15’s match was a fifteen a-side matchup, while Bermuda emerged victorious 10 – 5.

Women’s Scully Cup

In the Women’s Scully Cup, the Renegades advanced to the Final with a 2 – 0 win over the Police. Rebekah Kasumu scored both Try’s for the Renegades. Dennika Borden scored the lone Try of the game to earn the Mariners a spot in the Final with a 1 – 0 win over the Teachers.

Men’s Nicol Shield

The Police came from behind to defeat the Mariners 33 – 22. The Mariners held an early 10 – 0 lead but the League Champions fought back, Police got 2 Try’s from Guerhardt Lamprecht and John Stathakis, while Patrick Graham scored the other. Darryn Gillespie kicked 3 Conversions and Dan Cole added the other Conversion. Ian Frith scored 2 Try’s for the Mariners and Dustin Archibald scored the other, while Rory Dublin kicked 1 Penalty and 2 Conversions.

The Renegades defeated the Teachers 42 – 3. Rich Cumbers scored 2 Try’s to lead the Renegades to victory, Paul Dobinson, Alex Donkervoet, John Quigley and Greg Garside all added a Try each, Cumbers kicked 1 Penalty and 2 Conversions. Shauntino Simmons put the only points on the board for the Teachers when he kicked a Penalty.
