Day #3 Results: 2014 Commonwealth Games
Bermuda’s athletes continue competing in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, with Roy-Allan Burch, Micah Franklin and Nick Kyme in action on day three.
Roy-Allan Burch qualified for the Men’s 100m freestyle semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Burch, swimming in Heat 8, finished sixth with a time of 50.84.
Burch said, “The swim was better than it has been in the past, I was racing the swim, I will try to swim more within myself tonight, I know getting into the Final tonight is going to be difficult because these are some fast guys, but I am going to give it my best shot.”
Burch finished 6th in Heat 1 of the Semi-Finals during the Men’s 100m freestyle. Burch had a remarkable first 50m, but eventually faded in the end, touching the wall in a time of 50.26. His time was good enough to finish 11th overall.
In squash news, Micah Franklin went down in his third round Plate match in a four set battle.
Franklin taking on Joe Chapman from the British Virgin Islands went down in the first game 11-5, Chapman would take the second game as well 11-9. Franklin would fight back and win the third set 11-6, but he could not keep the form as he went down 11-7 in the fourth set.
Nick Kyme went down in straight sets 11-6, 11-5, 11-9 in his Plate Quarter-Final match against Scott Fitzgerald from Wales.
