Photos: Cup Match Campers Brave Wet Weather

July 29, 2015

Despite the wet weather, Cup Match celebrants have set up tents at various locations, getting set to enjoy the weekend’s festivities, with tents visible in several areas, including John Smiths Bay, Coney Island Park, Kindley Field Road, Shelly Bay Park and more.

The Bermuda Weather Service issued a Thunderstorm Advisory valid through this evening, and said this evening’s weather will be cloudy, rain, showers, with a risk of thunder; while tomorrow is predicted to have sunny periods with a few showers and a slight chance of thunder.

  1. Terry says:

So much for recession and unemployment.

    Dislike all you want.

    Truth is a beach…..

    • Triangle Drifter says:

Seen alot of tent camping across the US & Canada. Bermudians sure do it in style, especially considering equipment is only used 1 weekend a year.

Whatever the weather brings, they are ready. Enjoy.

      • Hurricane says:

And you would know the equipment is only used once a year, how?

    • Hurricane says:

What a stupid comment. It’s not like the recession and or unemployment has hit everyone.

      SMH!

    • I and I says:

If done correctly, camping out actually saves more money than is spent staying at home.

    • Lyfe says:

You are a loser! I wish all those camping a safe and happy CupMatch. Enjoy friends, family, and festivities. Not all people are effected by the recession and unemployment.

      • Terry says:

Well that’s not what the PLP tell us.
        Hard times et al.

        Enjoy.

    • High road says:

Be nice Terry, this is the one weekend where we can enjoy ourselves in whatever way we wish and all get along and celebrate our beautiful island. No negativity.

  2. What D Flop says:

One of them needs to turn herself in she knows full well she took my snowball at d Warwick laundromat 5 years ago

    • Hurricane says:

Maybe she should just return your snowball…….lmaooooooo

  3. Marge says:

Why in hell would you want to go camping in a small tent and leave the luxury of all of the comforts of your home ?

    • Triangle Drifter says:

I wonder that also but except for bathroom facilitys it is not like days past when camping consisted of an old parachute from the base & heavy canvas tarps.

Tent campers seem to be always busy doing something. They get up with the sun, make breakfast, clean up after breakfast & it goes on from there. To do anything takes much longer when you are tent camping than if you have a self contained RV which can be more like an itty bitty apartment that moves.

I do admire tent campers spirit. Seen then determined to stay in temps in the 30s F & rain coming down. How do you have fun in that? Seen them sticking it out in temps in the mid 90s without a drop of water in sight for relief. Seen them bycycle camping in Alaska (bear snacks or meals on wheels).

    • Hurricane says:

Why do people jump out of planes with parachutes on. Why do people run for 13 or 26 miles when no one is chasing them…….Because We Like What We Like and we all don’t like the same things.

Stay at home if that’s what you like, Marge but be sure to have a good holiday.

  4. Barbara D Cooper says:

I admire their Cup Match spirit …………..

  5. Hurricane says:

    Exactly, Barbara.

    Happy Holiday!

  6. Pot puller says:

Half of them probably won’t work in the rain:) and pick up your trash when your finish!!!
    Somerrrseettttttt…..
