Butterfield Wins Chivas Cricket Sportsman Award
The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] announced the winner of the weekly Chivas Cricket Sportsman Award for week 6 is Ray Butterfield of Western Stars SC.
The BCB said, “Ray has served as the curator for St. John’s field for many years and has an outstanding reputation for producing good quality cricket surfaces. In addition to preparing pitches for the Western Stars team he also ensures that the BCB National U18 team has excellent facilities when they play at St. John’s in the Logic 50 overs league and also in the T20 evening league.
“On Monday August 3rd the host field for the U14 Summer All-Star match proved unfit for play and Ray, and Western Stars management, agreed to host the game at St. John’s to avoid disappointing the 28 young men.
“For his extraordinary dedication and commitment to both senior and youth cricket, Ray Butterfield has been selected as the Chivas Sportsman of the week.”
If cigarettes are not allowed to promote sports ( camel cup) the same should go for alcohol cause how many promising careers were ruined because of alcohol. Sportsmen should have a better incentive than bottle of poison maybe then Bermuda sports can excel.
