Dage Minors Earns All-America 1st Team Honor
Bermudian track and field athlete Dage Minors has earned All-America First Team honors in the outdoor 800 meters.
His school’s website said, “Sophomore Dage Minors [Hamilton Parish, Bermuda] of the Franklin Pierce University men’s track & field program has earned All-America First Team honors in the outdoor 800 meters from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as announced earlier this summer by the USTFCCCA. It is the first All-America accolade in outdoor track & field in program history.
“The USTFCCCA bestows All-America First Team honors on those who finish in the top eight in each event at the NCAA Championships. In addition, all individuals who finish ninth through 12th earn All-America Second Team accolades.
“For Minors, it is his first outdoor All-America selection, as well as his second overall, as he also earned All-America First Team honors in the indoor 800 meters in 2014-15.
“This spring, he ran the ninth-fastest time in the preliminaries of the 800 meters, as he stopped the clock at 1:50.86, narrowly grabbing the last qualifying spot for the final.
“Minors was a step slower in the final, running a 1:51.20, but moved up one spot to finish eighth and earn his All-America First Team nod.”
Well done Dage!! You continue to make your family and all of Bermuda proud!
