Digicel SportsMax To Air School Football Finals
Digicel SportsMax will be airing the Bermuda School Sports Federation [BSSF] football finals, with both the Senior Boys Football Final and the Senior Girls Football Final set to shown on the station.
BSSF Manny Faria said, “The BSSF is pleased to announce that in conjunction with the BFA, the Bermuda Schools Senior Boys Football Final and the Senior Girls Football Final will be video recorded at the NSC when it is played as we have negotiated an agreement with Digicel SportsMax to air those matches on the Digicel SportsMax channels on Bermuda Cablevision.
“The matches will be played on Thursday, 17 December 2015 at noon for the Girls Final and 1pm for the Boys Final. The actual date to air the matches on Digicel SportsMax will be announced later but they will be aired a few days after the matches are played.
“We are hopeful that the schools that will be in the Finals will bring their students to support the school. The matches today at the NSC and at the BFA Field at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence have been very competitive and of high quality.
“Also, we invite the general public to attend the matches. We are looking forward to a huge crowd to demonstrate to the SportsMax audience that school football in Bermuda is of a high quality and that we love the game.
“The BSSF Finals are a culmination of an exciting season of school football and the dramatic climax to a week of exciting finals football.
“We are extremely excited about this opportunity as in our discussions with Digicel SportsMax, we are all keen to showcase lots of other sports that are played in schools in Bermuda.”
The BFA’s Mark Wade and Maurice Lowe stated, “The BFA is really excited about this venture with Digicel SportsMax as it gives our players in Bermuda the opportunity to showcase school/youth football to the wider Caribbean region.
“We have seen school football finals on SportsMax for some time now and so we are pleased to know that Bermuda will be added to the schedule.
“This first project will also be a huge opportunity to BFA to negotiate for more football matches in Bermuda to be shown on Digicel SportsMax. As the BFA has stated previously, we aim to be the best in the Caribbean and to be highly competitive with the other CONCACAF countries.
“We are also pleased for our referees to have a chance to be seen on Digicel SportsMax in the wider region as we work to get referees from Bermuda appointed to the FIFA list. We encourage more young people, male and female, to take referee courses with the BFA and to become referees.
“Finally, the Digicel SportsMax opportunity will be a great avenue for our players and coaches to showcase their talents. We look forward to some exciting Finals on Thursday and to see the game being broadcast throughout the region on Digicel SportsMax.”
