Bermuda Olympic Association To Hold Tag Day
The Bermuda Olympic Association [BOA] will be holding their annual fundraising Tag Day this coming Friday October 28th, and BOA Treasurer Carlos Lee and BOA Project Coordinator Veronica Edwards got things underway when they attended Government House and presented the first tag to Acting Governor Ginny Ferson.
A move for Bermuda to obtain recognition from the International Olympic Committee was started in 1934, and after approval of the formation of the Bermuda Olympic Committee was received in 1936.
An invitation to take part in the 11th Olympiad in Berlin was received shortly thereafter, and Bermuda has just marked the 80th anniversary of the island’s participation in the Olympic Games.
