The Black Collective Market Returns For Winter
The Black Collective will host a series of vendor markets during the winter months at the Verandah at 135 Front Street.
Beginning in 2016, the group hosted the inaugural African Rhythms Extravaganza and Fashion Show at the Pembroke Community Centre. This was followed by the Saturday Vendor Markets, which took place Saturdays from July to the end of September at the BIU Parking Lot.
The group ended the year with the Kwanzaa/Christmas Market; all of the markets featured African Bermudian businesses.
The Black Collective has decided to host a Winter Vendor Market at The Verandah at 135 Front Street, the same location the Kwanzaa/Christmas Market was held. There are a number of businesses returning for the winter season.
Business partners Leanna Lambert and Andrew Trott said, “Though most of our business is mobile, we found great success in participating in the market over the holiday shopping season.
“We had our regular deliveries, and even some of them came by the market to check us out. Even though customers came to see us, they were pleasantly surprised to see what the other vendors have to offer. We are happy to support the market and our fellow vendors.”
Lynelle Furbert of CultureWear Designs said, “We’ve been participating in The Black Collective Market since the initial summer market, and now at the Verandah. It’s wonderful to be inside. It’s great that we have this opportunity to have a regular space for customers to find us.”
The Market will run from Saturday, January 21 from 10.00am through 6.00pm, until Saturday, March 25. Vendors, whether they have a product to sell, or want to showcase their business, and community groups, are encouraged to participate.
The organizers said they are in the process of establishing a more permanent set up in the space. For more information, contact Maxine Esdaille on 504-7749 or email blessedbabe77@hotmail.com.
