YAO Baseball League: Cubs & Yankees Win
The YAO Babe Ruth League resumed at the YAO Ball Park in St. George’s.
The opening game saw the Orioles just run out of time. Due to time limits on the game, the Orioles – Cubs game ended after 5 innings, with the Cubs winning 14-12.
The Orioles almost overcame a 9 run deficit scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 5th. The Cubs bullpen struggled and could not keep the Orioles off the base paths, following Sam Resnik’s 3 & 2/3 innings of work, striking out 11, walking one and giving up 2 earned runs.
An error filled game did not help the pitcher’s strong outing, Resnik also contributed with 2 hits. The Orioles were led by Kaelin Paynter on the mound, struck out 3 and Matt Ingelman behind the plate, providing 2 hits.
Cody Robinson led the Orioles with 3 RBI’s and strong play in the field. Cubs were led by Jannis Roberts with 3 RBI’s and strong base running. Gabe Concepcion led the Cubs with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Jaden Malpas again played strong behind the plate and contributed with two hits.
In after noon action, the Yankees pulled off their first win of the season with a convincing 16-5 win over the Nationals. Yankees got on board in the first inning when Jack Martin tripled scoring 1 run.
Nic Martin was the starting pitcher going two innings allowing zero hits and one run while striking out five. The bull pen came in with George Kerr and Jordan Eternadi going one inning each and Jack Martin going two allowing only 4 runs between the three.
Nic Martin led the offense with three RBIs while Jack Martin and Jordan Eternadi both had two.
Liam McCue went 2 for 2 at the plate to lead the Nationals in hits McCue was on the hill for the Nationals lasting three innings allowing four hits and eight runs while striking out seven. Cameron Morris threw three innings out of the bullpen.
