Saltus Win Primary School Swimming At NSC
Saltus Grammar School were declared the 2018 Primary School Overall Champions at the Primary School Swimming Championships at the National Sports Center.
Saltus finished with a total of 314 overall points. Warwick Academy finished second with 298 points, while Somersfield Academy finished was third on 184 points.
Bermuda High School won a close Girls Division with 152 points. Saltus finished second on 146 while Warwick Academy was third on 143. Saltus claimed the Boys title for the first time in four years with 168 points. Warwick Academy followed with 155, while Somersfield Academy claimed third place with 103
Saltus won the Under 9 Girls Division with 59 points. The Saltus team was led by Ajana Patton who won the 25m Backstroke and Freestyle events. Saltus also won both the 4x25m Medley and Freestyle Relay.
Arabella Derbyshire was the standout of the meet in leading Bermuda High School to a convincing win in the Under 10 Girls Division.
BHS won the Division by a 29 point margin with 69 points. Derbyshire won the 25m Butterfly, Backstroke and Freestyle races. BHS also claimed wins in both relay races. Teammate Olivia Gazzard won the 25m Breaststroke to ensure a clean sweep in the Division.
Warwick Academy won the Over 10 Girls Division with 70 points. Marleigh Howes led Warwick winning the 25m Butterfly and Freestyle and the 100m Individual Medley.
A couple of Charlies led Saltus to the Under 9 Boys title. Charlie Hopkin won the 25m Backstroke and Breaststroke while Charlie Sazkmary claimed Gold in the 25m Freestyle and Butterfly. Saltus secured the Division with 57 points.
Connor Hupman won the Under 10 Boys Backstroke and Freestyle but it was not enough to secure the Division title. Warwick Academy won the Division comfortably on 62 points
Luke Horan had a hat-trick of wins in the Over 10 Division. The Warwick Academy swimmer won the Breaststroke, Freestyle and Individual Medley races.
