Pacers Athletes Heading To AAU Championships

Bermuda Pacers Athletes will make their second appearance at the 2019 AAU Cross- Country Championship.

This weekend 10 young long to middle distance runners from the Bermuda Pacers Track Club will compete at the prestigious 2019 AAU National Cross-Country Championships.

The event will be held this Saturday, December 7th at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville, Tennessee. This event attracts over 1,200 athletes from across the United States.

Leading the team will be long-distance runner Ryan Outerbridge, who will compete in the 17-18 Boys 5K race, other members of the team are Kahzi Sealey who will compete in the 15-16 Boys 5 K event. At last year’s event Sealey place 6th overall.

In the 13-14 Boy’s Division, Jaelyn Grant and J’auza James will compete in the Boy’s 4K race. Jace Donawa and Amir Outerbridge will compete in the 11-12 Boys 3K race.

During last year’s event, Jace Donawa placed 15th overall. Tobiah Goodchild will be the lone pacer athlete in the 9-10 Boys 2K race.

In the Girl’s Division, the club will have Jezhari Talbot compete in the 15-16 Girls 5K race. Jaeda Grant will compete in the 11-12 Girls 3K race and the youngest member of the team is Azari Jones who will compete in the 9-10 Girls 2K event.

The team will be accompanied to the event by Pacers’ distance coaches, Jerome Richards, Jay Donawa, Gina Evans, team manager Dr. Freddie Evans and a number of parents.

Coach Cal Simons also gave credit to club coach Dr. Evans who was instrumental in making this event happen and the parents for supporting the club and the athletes.
