It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father James Abiatha Godwin, [“Pa Jim”, “Big Jim”], in his 93rd year, of Loyal Hill Pass Devonshire, formerly of Devil’s Hole, Smith’s. Beloved husband for 45 years of Mae Godwin [nee Webb, deceased], wonderful father to Evelyn Minors [late Michael], Amenemhet TaMerry [formerly Clark Godwin], and Carla Whitehurst [late Billy] and awesome grandfather of Sharia Whitehurst, Joel Whitehurst [Tiffany], Danielle Whitehurst, Lorenzo Whitehurst [Mayah], Jasmine Wong [Brandon], Alexis Minors and A-Maya TaMerry[deceased].

Beloved great grandfather of Brinnie and Titus Whitehurst and Jade Wong.He was the son of the late Lillian Sealey and the late Edward [Slim] Caines. Brother of Alethea [Leta]Tucker [Clyde], Phobe Douglas, and Florence MacIntosh and his late brothers: Arthur [Simmie] Godwin [Gladys], Charles [Chippo] Godwin [Norma], Lawrence Sealey [Beverly]. Brothers-in-law: Leslie Webb [Alice] and St Clair Augustus and the late Charles, Franklin, George, Arthur and Walter Webb and Hilgrove Riley. Sisters in Law: the late Myrtle Benjamin, Ada Trott [Carl], Dorothy Brown, Grace Webb, Enid-Rose Augustus. Innumerous treasured nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. Life Long Special Friends of Mae and Jim:  Barbara and Rudolph Holder [New Jersey, US].

Specially remembered by his wonderful bowling friends made over the past 60 years, especially teammates of his many Bermuda Bowling leagues and particularly the Warwick Lanes family.  Special thanks to his good friend Mike McCallum who will be speaking on behalf of the Bermuda Bowlers. Also special thanks to the staff of KEMH, the Pals Team and TLC Homecare.There will be no viewing. Masks are recommended at the church service. Funeral and Burial services will be held at Christ Anglican Church in Devonshire Today August 4, 2022, at 11 am.
