Premier Brown wins APEX Award For Tourism
The Bahamian press is reporting [1] [2] that Premier and Minister of Tourism Dr. Ewart Brown won an Apex Award on April 22. Dr. Brown did not attend the award ceremony, and the award was accepted on Dr. Brown’s behalf by the Bahamian Minister of Tourism & Aviation Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace.
We are unaware if Dr. Brown was due to attend or not, however even if he had planned to attend, logistical reasons would have prevented him as he was ‘stuck’ in London as of result of the flight cancellations due to the volcanic ash, and only left Europe on April 22nd.
Minister Vanderpool-Wallace, accepting the award for the Premier, said that he and Dr Brown are close colleagues and friends, and added:
If anybody is wondering about Bermuda and the Bahamas, we both compete and cooperate
The Apex Awards are presented annually by Black Meetings and Tourism Magazine for distinguished service, and recognize outstanding contributions that have positively impacted travel and tourism.
Interesting, when you consider the fact that tourism has been in a steady decline since he became minister!!
Seems to make sense to me. The last few years decline have made it clear that we reached an apex in Bermuda tourism thus is it not fitting that our Premier and Tourism Minister is given an “APEX” award?
I guess Dr. Brown managed to ‘deceive’ them too!
Censorship is a ………………………
If the censorship refers to us, we have never disallowed a comment through, even the flaming rude ones we let on no problem. It’s all good and contributes, we actually appreciate anyone that takes the time to give feedback.
TBH, the whole “hold the comment thing” we hate anyway, only doing it under advice to prevent any legal or similar issues arising…
If the censorship comment wasn’t about Bernews, we have just embarrassed ourselves, please excuse us and carry on as you were
