Day #2 ICC Cricket: Bermuda Beats Argentina
At Baileys Bay Argentina took on the home side Bermuda before a sizeable crowd of local supporters, which saw Bermuda ease to their second win of the tournament after beating the Bahamas the day before.
The visitors won the toss and elected to field and the first 14 overs of the match proved to be a nightmare for the home side, losing 4 wickets for 33 runs. Just as the previous day Argentina could not cash in on their early success and a fifth wicket stand of 188 between veterans Janeiro Tucker (136) and Irving Romaine (77) broke their backs and set the course for the game.
For Argentina, opening bowler Gary Savage, with a spell of 10-3-20-4 was unplayable. Janeiro Tucker’s innings was out of this work or at least out of the ground as he hit 15 sixes and 6 fours. Bermuda finished their 50 overs having lost 6 wickets and setting a target of 282 runs.
Again for the second day Argentina’s hopes of a chase were quickly squashed as Jordan De Silva removed the first three batsmen for 17 runs. Donny Forrester with a spirited 43 was the only glimmer of hope for the visitors who were all out in the 36th over for 116 runs Jordan De Silva (3/12) and Jim West (4/11) were the outstanding bowlers for the home team.
