Tourism Meeting: Premier & West End Students
Yesterday [June 14] Premier Dr Ewart Brown visited the students of West End Primary School in Somerset, a visit which was inspired by the Premier receiving letters from a class of P2 students outlining their ideas for attracting more tourists to Fort Scaur.
The Premier spent twenty minutes with the class answering their questions, with the young students showing great initiative by making suggestions to assist Bermuda’s tourism. The Premier pledged to take some of their suggestions to Director of Tourism William Griffith.
The Premier said, “I am encouraged when I see young people being guided to take an interest in their country and being encouraged to openly and freely express their ideas. I felt it important that they know that I read their letters and while they may be students, we can still learn something from them. My congratulations to Ms. Dionne Bean the teacher of this class and to the parents of these fine young Bermudians.”
The Premier gave each student a key ring from the Department of Tourism before being led on a short tour of the school by Principal Livingston Tuzo. Before concluding his visit the Premier had an opportunity to witness the West End Primary Choir rehearsing one of their songs in the school assembly hall.
Well done Primary 2 we are so proud you and your fantasitc ideas for Fort Scaur.
Good Job Mrs. Bean and Primary 2—your voices were heard!
