Traffic Flow: City of Hamilton Pleased
The City of Hamilton today (Aug 27) thanked the motoring public for their support this past week with the changes to traffic flow into the City starting at 7:30am each morning.
Mr. Edward Benevides, Chief Operating Officer and Secretary for the City of Hamilton stated:
We have been very pleased with the flow of traffic into the City this week. We believe having two lines of traffic along East Broadway continuing along Front Street to Court Street has made the flow a lot smoother for many motorists. We have witnessed fewer delays in the morning and many people have commented on how easy the commute has been.
I would like to draw attention to the fact that on Saturday and Sunday there will be one lane of traffic onto Front Street all day, with two lanes resuming at 7:30am on Monday morning.”
The trenching on Reid Street between King and Court Streets has progressed very well this week and we are pleased with the work carried out so far, as we remain on schedule to conclude this project within about three weeks. Again, we thank the motoring public for their support and cautious driving into the City which has made this first week a huge success.
Mr. Benevides also announced that due to the anticipated high winds associated with Hurricane Danielle, the Four Seasons Family Festival scheduled for this Sunday has been postponed until Sunday, September 19.
I have also found the commute from Southampton to Hamilton to be amazingly quick this past week. It has been quicker than any other time. Next week when Public schools are in will be interesting to see if there are any delays. I was able to get onto the main road and into town with no stopping except to Paget stop light.
I think this is something that should be looked into as permanent if it works just as well with the schools being in. Two flowing lanes of traffic from the west end coming into Crow lane and into Hamilton works wonderful.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE City of Hamilton keep this traffic system going even when the cables are buried.
It has made the ride into work during morning rush hour a pleasure. It will also save gas and help the planet.
