CD&P Spreads Christmas Cheer

December 24, 2010

Staff at law firm Conyers Dill & Pearman spread a bit of holiday cheer in time for Christmas, donating over $11,000 from their own pockets to a range of charities and community initiatives.

Conyers donated to the Aerie Foundation in support of the Seniors programme  which provides support to seniors, their care givers and families by providing various services on a not-for-profit basis.  The foundation employs trained aides, who go into seniors’ homes and ensure they are cared for and their daily needs are met, which in some cases allows individuals to stay in their own homes and maintain their independence.

The Summerhaven Trust also received a donation from Conyers to assist with an extensive renovation project to improve and update the residents’ living quarters and facilities. Summerhaven is a residential facility catering to people living with disabilities.

Meanwhile, much of the financial burden for attending the Global Young Leaders Conference was relieved for Warwick Academy student Michael Cabot. The GYLC is a leadership development programme for high-achieving students from around the world which will see Michael spend ten days in China in June 2011.

Conyers also made donations to the Vernon Temple AME Church for their after School Programme; the Bermuda Education Assistance Trust which assists special needs children with schooling and extra curricular developmental activities; the Salvation Army and the SPCA.

Jennifer Williams, Chairman of Conyers’ Benevolent Fund Chairman said: “Conyers continues to work with organisations across Bermuda whose tireless efforts are vital in supporting the needs of the local community. We are delighted to see continued contributions from employees in support of these worthy causes.”

Conyers’ Staff Benevolent Scheme is funded by donations from Conyers employees, which are matched dollar for dollar by Conyers directors.
