Cancellations: Fashion Show, Flight & Market

December 5, 2010

[Updated] The inclement weather today [Dec 5] has forced the cancellation of the Olde Towne Market in St George’s, the JaKoMa Winter Fashion Show and Delta’s flight to/from Atlanta.

The Olde Towne Market will be back next week Sunday from 2pm – 6pm. The organizers of the JaKoMa fashion show, scheduled for 6pm today at Bulls Head Parking Lot, hope to be able to reschedule for next week, however no firm plans have been made yet.

Delta flight #656 traveling from Atlanta to Bermuda this afternoon [scheduled to land at 3:36pm] was cancelled due to the weather. The flight took off from Atlanta, but while in transit decided not to land in Bermuda, so diverted to Norfolk, Virginia.

As of this writing [4:25pm] British Airways flight #2232 from London, American Airlines flight #308 from Miami and American Airlines flight #1378 from New York are all still scheduled as normal. Jet Blue’s flight from New York is showing a delay of about two hours.

As all locals are already aware, the weather today has been far from welcoming. The Bermuda Weather Service [BWS] issued a Severe Weather Watch, Small Craft Warning, and Gale Warning today, and say that we can expect “gales, rain and periods of heavier showers and a chance for thunder. Wind gusts are likely to reach storm force at times.”

They say conditions ease a little for Monday, but unsettled and generally windy weather will remain through midweek.
