Centre’s Intent On ‘Changing Our World’
“Changing Our World” is the objective — and the name — of the Centre on Philanthrophy’s upcoming Third Sector conference . General registration is now open and The Centre is encouraging all those working in and supporting Bermuda’s charitable sector to sign up for what promises to be an exciting and informative event.
Being held on February 25 and 26 at The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, “Changing Our World” features 18 speakers from the US, Canada, the UK and Bermuda conducting more than 25 workshops on everything from “Fundraising Without Fear” to “The Future of Nonprofit Leadership”.
“We have been able to attract an impressive line-up of internationally recognised speakers to the conference,” explains Danielle Riviere [pictured above], programme manager for The Centre. “The registration fee is affordable, through the support of our wonderful group of sponsors, and you can sign-up online, download a registration form or just give us a call and we’ll be happy to help you get registered.”
The list of speakers attending “Changing Our World” includes: Ann Wilson Cramer, director for IBM Corporate Citizenship & Corporate Affairs for the Americas; Tony Elischer, the founder of THINK Consulting and recognised as one of the world’s leading fundraising consultants; and Dr. Jeff Salz, an acclaimed explorer and well-known television personality on CBS, the Travel Channel and the History Channel.
The conference kicks off on Thursday February 24 with a special dinner featuring the launch of The Centre’s 20th Anniversary celebrations, the Youth Philanthropist of the Year Award and a keynote address by Andrew Mosawi of Blackbaud.
Also included in the conference are two workshops aimed specifically at the Island’s faith-based community. Presentations on “Building a Fundable Faith-based Organisation” and “Starting a Community Ministry” will be hosted by Sherrye Willis [pictured], founder of the Faith & Philanthropy Institute.
“We try and have something for everyone,” continues Ms Riviere. “Now is a really important time for charities, donors and volunteers to be working together, and “Changing Our World” is a chance to learn, collaborate and create real change.”
