BAC Announces New Managing Director
The BAC Group of Companies announced the retirement of its Managing Director, John Plested. The Company has appointed Chris Schuler as the new Managing Director, taking effect on 31 March, 2011.
John Plested joined BAC as a Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician in 1978 and, over time, was promoted to Project Manager and then Managing Director, about which he says, “As an HVAC technician and Project Manager you are pretty much master of your own destiny, but once in the Corner Office you answer to a number of different entities that all have to be clearly understood and dealt with differently.
As BAC’s Managing Director I have been able to see the company grow considerably and the completion of our new warehouse/residential building is the legacy I leave behind.”
In the course of Mr Plested’s time with BAC, he was responsible for the HVAC installations in several new office buildings in the City of Hamilton: the LP Gutteridge Building, Bank of Bermuda Par la Ville and Compass Point, Bank of Butterfield Rosebank, Clarendon House, Global House, Victoria Hall, and many others.
Chris Schuler joined BAC in 1987 as a Mechanical Field Superintendent possessing a strong background in the mechanical business. Graduating at the top of his class and through sheer hard work, a great work ethic, getting along with others, and getting the most out of the people working with him, he showed leadership qualities that confirmed his ability to take over the reins and move the Company forward.
Asked about his intentions as Managing Director, Mr Schuler says, “I aim to continue to provide all of our customers and clients with the most professional service possible. I also believe in continuing to train our employees so that we can be one of the best Bermudian businesses on the Island, and one that all our employees are proud of.” As for his immediate focus for 2011, he elaborates, “We want to remain the leading company in the mechanical industry through these difficult economic times, and will always be on the lookout for opportunities to improve on our knowledge and expertise in these areas.”
Congratulations on your retirement John. I hope you take as many fond memories with you as I did when I left BAC. Give my regards to Diana.
Chris, many congratulations to you on your new appointment. Best wishes and good luck in the future.
