T.N. Tatem Middle School Math-a-Thon
This week saw some of the island’s budding young mathematicians showcase their skills at the T.N. Tatem Middle School 14th annual Math-a-thon.
The competition kicked off on Monday, March 28th with M3 students, M2 students on the 29th, M1 students on the 30th and a Championship Round this morning [Mar.31]. Principal Francine McMahon, is seen below addressing the students.
M2 Mathematics/Resource Teacher, Ms Chardonnai DeSilva said, “The week was full of excitement as students and staff cheered on their house teams. The competition was fierce, but in the end there could only be one winner. The goal of this event was to portray mathematics as challenging yet fun. A round of applause is extended to all participants, who demonstrated their math skills”.
At the end of the four day event the results were as follows: Robinson House 255 points, Wilson House 335 points and Williams House 435 points. Williams House participants, the winners of the event, are pictured below.
Ms Desilva thanked those who helped with the event saying, “Many thanks to the moderators who came from HSBC, teachers of other schools, parents, staff and from the Ministry of Education. The Mathematics Department is truly appreciative of all those who worked behind the scenes to make the Math-a-thon a success”. The students are shown below receiving their participation certificates.
Wonderful keep up the GREAT work.
