Refurbished ‘Norwegian Dawn’ Bermuda Bound
Norwegian Cruise Line’s eight-year-old “Norwegian Dawn” re-enters service to Bermuda today [May 27] after undergoing extensive renovations at a Bahamian dry dock this month .
The cruise line says the 2,224-passenger vessel is adding more than 50 new cabins as well as a new Brazilian steakhouse.
Also changing will be the location of the Spinnaker Lounge, Blue Lagoon restaurant, gift shop, art gallery and photo gallery.
The new cabins — available beginning in September – include four Deluxe Owner’s Suites. lso new are 14 Family Suites that sleep up to six passengers; 10 Family Suites with balcony that mostly sleep up to six passengers; and 18 inside cabins.
All passenger cabins, as well as crew cabins, also are getting upgraded flat screen televisions, the line adds, and the ship’s Dawn Club Casino is getting a top-to-bottom overhaul, as are the Kid’s Crew and Teen Club areas.
The line says the ship’s makeover also will bring aesthetic improvements in the Fitness area and Garden Café and an upgrading of the Atrium Lobby.
The “Norwegian Dawn’s” new seasonal home port is Boston.
The ship will sail seven-day Bermuda voyages out of the city every Friday through October 21 and then reposition to Miami for a series of 10- and 11-day Southern Caribbean trips through April 8, 2012.
“Norwegian Dawn” is the second of three Norwegian Cruise Line ships scheduled for refurbishments this year. The nine-year-old “Norwegian Sun” completed a dry dock renovation in March, and the 12-year-old “Norwegian Spirit” will enter dry dock on September 26.
