ISL Saturday Action: Royal, Union, Apex Win
Lindo’s ISL Soccer fans were treated to a total of 47 goals yesterday [July 2] at National Stadium. Two players scored five goals to propel their team to victory, and three players scored four goals. The Royal scored the last four goals of the game to notch their first victory of the season.
The Union blew a three goal lead but scored five of the last six goals in their match with the Kings, and the Apex got another solid game in goal to pick up their second win of the season.
Game one was the highest scoring game of the 2011 Lindo’s ISL season. Jason Lee scored five goals and Jahmel Swan scored four to propel the Union past the Kings. The Union led 8-5 before the Kings scored the next four goals to take a 9-8 lead. The Union then ran off the next five goals to secure the victory. Quincy Aberdeen scored four goals in a losing effort. Rui Furtardo had two goals and three assists for the Kings
Game two wasn’t as high scoring as Game one, but it was just as exciting. The Royal got five goals from Clay Darrell, and two goals from Jemeiko Jennings and Jelani Butterfield to come back and beat the Arsenal 9-7. Cecoy Robinson scored four goals for Arsenal. Robinson’s fourth goal gave Arsenal a 7-5 lead. That’s when a driving rainstorm hit National Stadium. The Royal scored the next four goals of the game and held on for the 9-7 victory.
Game three belonged to the Apex. The game was at 2-2 at the half. That’s when Apex took control scoring the last four goals of the match. Jahron Dickinson scored twice and Daniel Johnson made eight saves for Apex. The Apex are now 2-3 on the season and are close to clinching a playoff berth. The Storm drop to 1-4 and need a victory over Titans in the season’s final game to have any hope of making the playoffs to defend their 2010 Lindo’s ISL Championship.
The 2nd installment of Gospel nights is set for today [July 3] at National Stadium. Scheduled to perform are MONTY G, POSITIVE, SIS SAM, GENEMAN, DEONDRE MORRIS, AND FYAH B.
