Caribbean Squash Champs: Day #2 Report

The Men’s Bermuda Squash Team continued play in the Cayman Islands on Day #2 of the 2011 Caribbean Individual Squash Championships.

Bermuda is the defending champion in the team division, and is competing against athletes from the Caymans, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, OECS, Barbados, Bahamas and Guyana.

The Bermuda Team of Micah Franklin, Noah Browne, Chris Stout, Anthony Fellowes & Spencer Moss all saw action.

In Men’s Individual – Plate action, Stout went down in four sets to Warren Burrowes from Jamaica, Burrowes won the first set 11-7, before Stout won the second set 11-7. Burrowes won the next two sets 11-9, 12-10.

Fellows went down in straight sets 11-5, 11-8, 11-8 to Robert McDavid from Guyana. Meanwhile Moss went down in straight sets 11-2, 11-7, 11-7 to Mandela Patrick from Trinidad.

In Men’s Individual – Special Plate action Franklin reached the Semi-Finals after he defeated Kevin Hannaway in straight sets 11-2, 11-6, 11-7.

Browne fell in a four set lost to Gabe Rabess from Cayman Islands, Rabess won the first set 11-8, before Browne won the second set 11-9, but Rabess won set three 11-8 and set four 11-9 to advance.

In the Men’s Individual – Consolation Plate Division, Fellowes went down to Chayse Mac Quan from Trinidad in five sets, Mac Quan won the first set 11-7, before Fellowes won the second set 11-9, Mac Quan went ahead 2-1 when he won the third set 11-7, but Fellowes then leveled the match at 2 – 2 with a 11-8 fourth set win, but in the fifth and final set Mac Quan defeated Fellowes 11-6 to advance to the Semi-Finals where he will meet Stout.
