BWS Issues Tropical Storm Warning
The Bermuda Weather Service issued a Tropical Storm Warning this morning [Sept.14], saying that Tropical Storm Maria’s closest point of approach to Bermuda within 72 hrs is forecast to be 127 nautical miles to the west north-west at 10am on Thursday September 15th.
“Strong to tropical storm force winds with higher gusts arrive late today as well as the closest point of approach from Tropical Storm Maria will be about 140 nm to our west mid-Thursday morning. Maria is expected to move away quickly to the northeast Thursday afternoon,” said the BWS.
another non-event, maybe 20 knot winds, maybe.
Funny, official track from the NHC has the storm 215 miles away at 9am… BWS is quoting a distance to the inner band of 58-65mph winds – deliberate fear mongering? I don’t understand. Storm distances are always quoted from the centre, why the change?
