Reuben Bean Returns From Seminar
Well- known local martial artist, self defense instructor and founder of Jiketsu Centre, Reuben Bean, has recently returned from an intense four-day seminar in New Jersey with the Self Defense Company [SDC] which is accredited by the US Department of Defense.
The four-day seminar, held on August 17-20, included all facets of close quarters combat from empty hand defense and ground fighting to close quarter weaponry.
“The event served two purposes,” said SDC founder Damian Ross. “It allowed us to train and evaluate current instructors and practitioners of The Self Defense Training System and it allowed us to spend time with people from across the globe that share a common interest—practical and realistic defensive tactics.”
At the seminar Mr Bean, an instructor with the SDC for three years, earned both his level three and level four certificates while receiving glowing reviews from the judging panel.
Said Ross: “Your skill is only exceeded by your heart and compassion. I love what you do with the SDTS. In your hands it turns into a buzz saw.”
Mr Bean said, “it was an honor to benefit from the wealth of wisdom and experience shared by the founder of the world’s leading self defense tactics system and to also train with and exchange real life experiences with high level Navy Seals, Marines and like minded hard core reality based defensive tactics practitioners.
Mr Bean teaches Defensive Tactics at the Jiketsu Centre in the old Berkeley School on Berkeley Hill and specialized private and corporate courses on location.
