Videos: 2007 World Cup Team Beat MCC
Last night [Sept.27] the 2007 World Cup Bermuda Cricket Squad met up with the visiting MCC cricket team at the Somerset Cricket Club, with Bermuda walking away with the victory. [Bermuda 179/8 MCC 75].
Irving Romaine won the toss and elected to bat, and Bermuda scored 179/8 in their allotted 20 overs with Lionel Cann the top scorer with 72, Dean Minors added 23, and Stephen Outerbridge added 21.
With figures of 4.0-0-21-2 Paul Muchall led the MCC bowling attack, while Michael Baer bowled 2.0-0-23-2 and Andrew Birley bowled 3.0-0-27-2.
In reply MCC were bowled all out for 75, Andre Geldenhuys was their top scorer with 29, Craig DeWeymarn was the next high man with 13 and Richard Gilbert was the only other batsmen in double figures with 10.
With figures of 4.0-0-14-3 Dwayne Leverock was the pick of the Bermuda 2007 World Cup team bowlers, while Malachi Jones bowled 4-0-6-2.
Prior to thematch, the Bermuda 2007 World Cup Cricket Team was honored by the Minister of Youth, Families and Sports Glenn Blakeney, and the President of the Bermuda Cricket Board Reginal Pearman for their commitment to Bermuda.
The 2007 Bermuda World Cup team of Captain Irving Romaine, Clay Smith, David Hemp, Janeiro Tucker, Dean Minors, Kwame Tucker, Malachi Jones, Kevin Hurdle, Dwayne Leverock, Lionel Cann, Stephen Outerbridge, OJ Pitcher, Delyone Borden, Stefan Kelly and Saleem Mukuddem all had their names called out as they received caps from the Minister.
Pitcher, Borden, Kelly and Mukuddem were not present, neither was the former National Coach Gus Logie; however also collecting Caps were Manager Lionel Tannock, Assistant Coach Herbie Bascome, Assistant Coach Lorenzo Tucker and Physio Craig Brown.
