Cruise Ship Makes Inaugural Bermuda Call

October 31, 2011

The 2,974-passenger  cruise ship “Carnival Glory” made its inaugural call into King’s Wharf, Bermuda last week. As is standard for any vessel calling into port for the first time, a plaque ceremony took place commemorating the maiden call with officials and shipboard crew.

Bermuda’s Minister of Transport Terry Lister is pictured with “Carnival Glory” Captain Giuseppe Giusa below.

“Carnival Glory was part of New York’s summer schedule sailing four-, five-, and seven-day sailings to Canada in New England.

On November 7 the ship will reposition to Miami where it will spend the winter months.

The Ministry of Transport yesterday [Oct.30] confirmed that Carnival Cruise Lines has  cancelled 11 of the 12 previously approved Bermuda cruise calls for 2012.

Mr. Lister said: “We were surprised to only learn of the cancellations on Wednesday. This has put us in a unfortunate position for next year, because it will be difficult to find suitable replacement ships at such a late date.”
