Hamilton SDA Church Hold Food Drive

October 18, 2011

Hamilton Seventh-Day Adventist Church announced they will be hosting a food drive at the church located on the corner of King and Church Street between October 18-22. The church hopes to bring a level of awareness to the community about the number of persons in our midst that are suffering and lack resources such as day-to-day food.

A church spokesperson said, “The Hamilton Seventh-day Adventist Church realizes that these are hard and unprecedented times in our community and a host of individuals are suffering. It is our church’s goal to be a reflection of Christ’s love and to meet our community were the need is.  We have developed and as a result, operation “five loaves and two fish.”

“Operation “five loaves and two fish” is a campaign to help those people in our country who are having financial difficulty and are subsequently unable to feed themselves and or their families.”

“Our mission is to provide hampers of food to financially challenged members of our community with donations of none perishable goods to our community.  All the collected goods will be stored at the Hamilton SDA Youth Center.”

“We will start the collection from Tuesday Oct 18th on through Saturday October 22nd. On Sunday Oct 23rd, we assemble at the Youth Center at 8:00 am and will apportion out the food and assemble the boxes. We will set a time from 12:00pm-2:00pm for people [members of the public] to come and get the boxes of goods.  We will have a team ready to transport the boxes to those persons without transportation.”

Pastor Kenneth Manders states, “We are excited for this opportunity to partner with the community to provide food for struggling families in Bermuda.”
