Bermuda Thanksgiving Classic Is Back
The Bermuda Thanksgiving Classic – an international high school boys basketball tournament — will be held at the Berkeley Institute this weekend from November 24th to the 26th.
The live action kicks off this Thursday [Nov.24] at 7pm with an opening ceremony. Participating schools are Georgetown District High [GDH], Canada, Northwood High [NH] from Louisiana, Boca Raton Christian High [BRCH] out of Florida and our own Bermuda team.
The Bermuda team which is pictured below includes in the front row left to right- Juron Tucker, Khaivon Castro, Rashon Tankard, Josh Liyange and back row left to right- Jordan Rego, Lucas Barbey, Karim O’Conner, Phillip Burgess, Donovan Livingston and Anthony Furbert. Missing from photo are Troy Fox Jr., Jahkil Perinchief and Daniel Heintzman.
A spokesperson said, “Each night will be exciting basketball action with music, prizes and giveaways; not to mention the live halftime performances from local artists. The Bermuda High Select team is lead by Coach Tim Trott and his experienced coaching staff including assistant coaches, Kent Tacklyn and Ralph Scott.”
“Between the 3 coaches there is over 50 years of basketball coaching experience. Expectations for this year’s team is to win its first high school international game on home soil.” Anthony Furbert from team Bermuda says, “We will surprise you this year.”
“So come and support our team as they have been training hard over the past 2 months in preparation and will be on showcase each night.”

- Game 1 Thursday 7:00pm NH vs BRCH
- Game 2 Thursday 8:30pm GDH. vs Bermuda
- Game 3 Friday 12:30pm NH vs Bermuda
- Game 4 Friday 2:00pm BRCH vs GDH
- Game 5 Friday 7pm BRCH vs Bermuda
- Game 6 Friday 8:30pm GDH vs NH
- Game 7 Saturday 7pm 3rd place game
- Game 8 Saturday 8:30pm 1st place game
Doors open at 6:45pm and admission will be $5 for adults and free for all students 18 and under, please show school ID.
