Potential For Flooding This Week

November 21, 2011

The Island may experience flooding for several days beginning later this week as unseasonably high tides combine with a storm system, the Ministry of Public Works said today [Nov.21].

A spokesperson said, “In late October an advisory was sent that the Long Term Car Park at LFW Airport was flooded due to high tides being approximately a foot and a half above normal.

“During the previous high tides, Airport management had arranged to have vehicles towed to higher ground. However, Airport Management have advised that such action couldn’t be guaranteed in future and that car owners must continue to be aware that they park at their own risk.

“Higher than normal tides are expected again later this week and into next and when combined with an approaching storm system, sea water will rise higher than usual around the island.

“Members of the public should use caution when parking at the Long Term Car Park at the Airport and other low lying areas should prepare for potential flooding.”

Why not just close the long term parking? DUH!

    • CheapSkate says:

That’s easy to say close down long term parking. When your late for your flight and you must get to the airport and driving is your only option, do you have time to figure out where to park if the long term is closed? or do you park your car where ever and sort it out when you get back? I’m sure most Bermudians already know that the entire airport in land filled…
